Nintendo Patents Its Own Football Controller

Posted by Ronald Tillmon II aka R2deuce On August - 26 - 2009

Its no suprise that Nintendo is an innovator when it comes to periphials but at what point is enough is enough? The nunchuk does add much-needed flexibility as well as the MotionPlus adds some extra sensitivity for 1:1 play, but come on a Football Controller?!

Siliconera writes;

A recently filed patent application by Howard Cheng, Vice President of Research and Development at Nintendo of America, reveals a plan for a soft football controller for use with the Wii and the remote.

As the old saying goes, “High Risk equals High Reward” and Nintendo is the epitome of that statement with their next generation peripherals. It is still uncertain why a football wrapped around a motion-plus controller would be Nintendo’s next venture, but when you have an install base of 50 million plus you can afford to gamble.

PHANTOM BRAVE:WE MEET AGAIN Wii Preview

Posted by Derrick Smith On August - 16 - 2009

phantom-brave
Phanton Brave: We Meet Again has finally shipped to retailers nationwide for the Nintendo Wii and set to offer yet another incredible RPG style action-packed adventure.

Phantom Brave: We Meet Again offers a unique battle style which incorporates a hardcore character customization system. Players can create units from a number of monster and ghost categories and power them up exponentially.

There are two main phases to Phantom Brave’s battle system. The first phase is the Confine phase. Marona, the protagonist of this game, can summon ghosts and monsters as battle units to fight for her. However, in order to do so, she must “confine” souls into objects on the battlefield like rocks, plants, and items. Depending on what object you use for the host, the stats of the units you summon will greatly differ. Some units become stronger from certain objects, so knowing your spirits’ characteristics becomes a very important strategic element.

Key Features:

- English/Japanese Dual Voice Over

- All New Story Chapters

- Improved Graphics

- Redesigned User Interface

- Extra items, Skills, and Characters

For all you Wii owners looking for the next best fun-filled adventure, look no further than Phantom Brave: We Meet Again.

Madden ‘10 DLC

Posted by Ronald Tillmon II aka R2deuce On August - 8 - 2009

madden-fight-2
After playing the demo and watching countless hours of promo vidoes for Madden ‘10, it is no suprise that EA is going all out to make a great gaming experience. With no plans for complacency or bankruptcy for that matter, EA continues to add more to this years madden by offering some rare but interesting DLC.

Here is a sample:

Super Superstar – Downloading this will enable your Superstar to get maximum progression for the length of his career.

Pick A Superstar – Downloading this will allow you to pick any NFL player to start Superstar mode with.

Dig Deep – For one play, your players respond to the challenges of the moment. All players receive a 10% boost to all stats.

Game Day Instincts – For one game, your coaching staff is in the zone. All players receive a 5% boost to all stats; can be used once per year, per franchise.

PK Scout – Download this to use a special scout who will reveal all true stats for Punter and Kicker prospects in the upcoming offseason. This is usable in Franchise only.

Play Through the Pain – Using this allows for one player to recover from any injury no matter what the severity; usable once per season, per franchise.

Not Done Yet – Downloading this allows you to keep one player out of retirement for one more year; usable once per season, per franchise. This is used in Franchise

In addition to these game modifiers, players can purchase “Elite Status” through the game’s multiplayer lobby. What does it do? It’ll give you access to “exclusive VIP lobbies, leaderboards” and will grant you access to “the all new Elite Gametype” which features “All-Madden difficulty level and is tuned exclusively for the hardcore.”

Paying extra for a difficulty mode, is EA serious?! Regardless, Madden ‘10 is what we all have been waiting for since the death of Espn 2K football.

Gamasutra writes;

According to Nintendo of America VP of sales and marketing Cammie Dunaway, this equates to one copy of the game sold every 1.5 seconds since it launched.

The game is the first Nintendo first-party Wii title to employ the new MotionPlus peripheral, with which it ships bundled for $49.99, with additional MotionPlus accessories available separately for $19.99.

The game features 12 “resort-themed” sports minigames like tennis, basketball, golf and bowling, that use the Mii avatars. It can be considered a follow-up to Wii Sports, which has sold over 45 million units globally and continues to chart — according to Nintendo, it sold 1 million units worldwide just during the company’s most recent fiscal quarter.

Dunaway called the performance of this new iteration “a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.”
